Review of The Passion of the Christ (2004) by Gerirose C — 20 Apr 2014

So hard to watch as believer in the Lord. don't really undersand why so many say it was just "to brutal, or calling it a slasher film" if you do research on crucifixtions IT was brutal! I can't imagine that being whipped, beaten then nailed by your hands and feet and having a crown of thornes shoved on to your head and you hang on a cross waiting to die as NOT being brutal!! I liked that Mel Gibson tried to portray on how brutal it was while a lover of most movies based on the life of Christ most show his death as pagentry I would say this probably doesn't even show a bit of how brutal it really was! I think most believers have a hard time with it because watching someone being brutalized for our benefit and sins so We can have everlasting life is pretty heart wrenching, I thought the acting was incredible considering its all in Aramaic a langauge no longer spoken! and for those saying this story has been made millions of times, yeah well it should be told billions more! Its about the greatest of love any man, women or child will ever have in this life and the only everlasting! but if it bothers people to see it millions of times then don't watch " Jesus movies" God gave us free will! And to the non christians that have comented that to be a Christian has to be about torture and such infliction of pain, that isn't what the message is, its about the Son of God born to a women and just like us as far as being human that he could feel humanly pain and had emotion that could feel hurt and betrayal but he died in such away that those who believe shall not perish but have everlasting life! and because he suffered what he did for all man kind we don't have to! Is that the greatest love that God could have for his children? I'm a mother and my child is my greatest gift but could I do what are heavenly father did for us and die for my childs sin? umm yes id say I would give my life for my childs life but because The Lord died for all of us we don't have to!! and still if you were asked to die for our child and knowing ahead of time how and feeling the pain before hand like Jesus did I don't know if id be brave enoug!! that is why he is the heavenly father that he so loved YOU that he gave his only child! I hope that helped those that aren't christian that its not about death and torture but about the greatest love their is! God Bless.
