Review of The Passion of the Christ (2004) by Jeff D — 31 Mar 2018
The so-called "top critics" who bashed this film are uneducated morons who wouldn't get the point if it smacked them in the face. The film is an accurate depiction of history, so it's SUPPOSED to be gory and violent.
"Jesus died for our sins" downplays what he really experienced. He didn't just die. He willingly suffered the most brutally torturous death in human history...for our sins. This film hits you in the face with that reality and frankly, more people need that.
As for being "anti-semitic", just shut up with that ignorance already. Caiaphas was the ringleader for the torture and murder of Jesus and he also happened to be the JEWISH high priest, so to acknowledge this fact is nothing more than that, acknowledging fact.
It does not mean we hate Jews. It means that yes, the Jewish religious leaders DID kill Jesus. Anyone who wants bunnies and unicorns, feel free to avoid this movie. Anyone who wants to sit through the uncomfortable reality of what Jesus REALLY endured, watch this movie.
If you walk away from it having entirely missed the point of what he did for us, you and I obviously weren't watching the same movie. This movie is for the subject of Christianity what The Accused is for the subject of rape.
Brutal, accurate, and necessary.
