Review of The Passion of Darkly Noon (1995) by Andrew C — 28 May 2008
A modern day fairy tale, this is beautifully shot and with good, if low-key, performances, but loses its way fairly quickly on the path to an obvious and not-nearly-as-profound-as-it-thinks ending.
The 'surreal' moments add nothing (especially as they are later rationally (over-) explained, thus losing all appeal and mystery), apart from to give the film a strange and suitably ineffectual coda.
