Review of The Party's Just Beginning (2018) by Farah R — 16 Jan 2019
Karen Gillan's directorial debut lacks depth for a movie about loss and depression. She spends a lot of time focusing on the ugly ways her character is coping with her friend's loss rather than show it through a resonating, heartbreaking performance.
Her acting was completely devoid of any real emotion which made it difficult to connect and impossible to enjoy the movie. I didn't like it but must commend Gillan on a strong debut.
