Review of The Party (1968) by Abdul K — 22 Oct 2008
Saw it last night, not as laugh-out-loud funny as the Pink Panther collaborations between Edwards/Sellers but has its moments. There is a socially conscious track getting genuinely close to satire but very cleverly disguised behind the farce onscreen.
The very though of a white person essaying an Indian actor initially put me off but it never amounts to either sycophancy or crassness. Only a genius comedian duo could have pulled it off successfully as they did.
Well worth a watch.
