Review of The Parent Trap (1961) by Brian D — 02 Aug 2010
Absolute classic. Maureen O'Hara and Brian Keith are both brilliant as the dysfunctional lovers who really can't admit to themselves just how in love they are as they're just too wrapped up in being "over-the-top" dramatic. Hayley Mills really did a fantastic job in this movie, as well.
There's also just something about the feeling of this movie that's just so "right". I don't know what it is, but when I watch it, I feel as if I'm enveloped in another time and place. I think this is easily one of the greatest films Disney ever made and it certainly hit on exactly what Walt was going for.
Did I also mention Charlie Ruggles is one of my favorite actors? This movie is simply fantastic, one I want my children to grow up with.
