Review of The Parent Trap (1961) by Hoss R — 23 Nov 2011
I've always loved the THE PARENT TRAP franchise and used to watch all those TV movie sequels with the adult Hayley Mills and then the triplets back in repeatedly as a kid. The original still has a great deal to recommend it, but it also has its weaker moments, sometimes not quite figuring out how to sink into particular moments in the narrative.
The film does, however, nail the era in which it is set perfectly. Performances across the board are entertaining. The resolution, the "dream" shifting into the very twee wedding in the 1961 film, remains disappointing.
