Review of The Parallax View (1974) by Lee B — 17 Mar 2010
Warren Beatty delivers an ok performance in Alan J. Pakula's classic 70's conspiracy thriller. While the film can feel aimless and incoherent, it comes through somewhat in the end. I think it's main problem was the lack of an emotional hook.
Yeah, there is suspense and the cinematography by legendary DP Gordon Willis is exceptional, the story can be hard to follow. It's widely regarded as the best of it's genre but I can't really see why.
Films like "Michael Clayton" are far better.
