Review of The Paperboy (2012) by Dolores D — 17 Oct 2012
Trope trope trope, lots of sex and violence and dysfunction, some more trope. And the one character that almost sometimes felt like they were not an on the nose trope, drops into a detroit accent to ironically give a line about being "MF James Bond" and revealing he's really another trope.
This film tries too hard while not thinking enough. Story beats are off, timeline is jumpy, and there's not nearly enough mystery to make the murder thrilling.
