Review of The Paperboy (2012) by Matthew F. J — 19 Oct 2012
Director Lee Daniels turns moviemaking upside down with the pulpy B-movie style he employed on this film. I liked the very gritty and grainy feel. And his choice to drown the film in the 100% 1960's/70's sweaty Southern culture production design.
I just wish the story was more engaging. It just doesn't go anywhere emotionally. But the entire cast embraced the "bad" acting style Daniels wanted and I think they got some interesting results from it.
