Review of The Paperboy (2012) by Michelle F — 27 Oct 2012

This is a highly atmospheric and challenging thriller with amazing performances. Although I can well understand why many critics and audience would dislike it - I am not of this camp.

Zac Efran gives the most mature and erotically charged performance of his career. He utterly seethes with sensuality and youthful confusion. Matthew McConaghey also delivers playing Efron's perverse older brother who is investigating a murder and attempting to free a man on death row he believes is falsely accused of the crime.

Nicole Kidman pushes her limits with her courageous portrayal of a white trash, death row groupie. John Cusack gives a disturbing performance as the murderous death row inmate and the object Kidman's obsession.

All in all it is a highly provocative and courageous work of Art that should be seen.
