Review of The Paperboy (2012) by David S — 29 Mar 2013
Kind of a bastard love child of Killer Joe (great trashy fun), Wild Things (cheap guilty pleasure) & Bad Lieutenant: Port of New Orleans (deliriously brilliant) - with the less positive genes of all three spliced together.
Still...the sweaty, often sex-fixated trawl through inbred Southern America is a genre I find plays well again, as in the above. Although it will strongly split audiences as it feels kinda half arthouse/half 70's sexpolitation flick, I was just about entertained enough for my entrance fee for something a bit different, which is never a bad thing.
