This has received shockingly poor reviews, and after my second viewing, I can appreciate that The Paperboy does have some considerable problems. The story lacks definition, the editing is choppy and the whole thing is a bit of a mess but what a thoroughly enjoyable mess it is! The performances are outstanding, the sense of time and place engaging and the whole film has this enthusiasm that's positively infectious.
Its alive and rarely plays it safe. Comparable to Killer Joe in tone, give this film a chance - I loved it.
