Review of The Paper Chase (1973) by Sarah P — 24 Jan 2008
A good movie, but I was expecting more from it. The supporting characters seemed more developed than the leads. I think Houseman's character was suppose to be enigmatic (why does he keep asking Bottoms's character what his name is? Is he messing with him or did he actually forget the student who yelled "You're a son of a bitch!" at him during class?) but I thought he just seemed like the film makers decided they didn't need to actually make him awe inspiring as long as the other characters kept talking about him when he wasn't around.
That said, I did enjoy it and it's nice to see a college movie that isn't just drunken shenanigans.
