Review of The Palm Beach Story (1942) by Allan C — 23 Feb 2009
Raucous Preston Sturges comedy, with a beginning and end that defy belief and suggest that at this point he was becoming more interest in form than in people. Not my favourite, though Joel McCrea is as likable as ever and thereâ??s fine comic support from Rudy Vallee and Mary Astor.
Ultimately, for all its faults, the film belongs to Claudette Colbert who is not only very funny, but also indescribably lovely.
