Review of The Pallbearer (1996) by Anson D — 05 May 2006
I'm beginning the rather lengthy task of entering into the database every film I have seen, at least those I have a decent memory of. Some may have the briefest of reviews while many will just have a number. Those films that I consider personal favorites and/or those that have some historical signficance I will add later when I have time for more lengthy reviews.
Cool As Ice.
Director: David Kellog.
Stars: Vanilla Ice, Kristen Minter, Naomi Campbell.
Synopsis: What's worse, Vanilla Ice as a rapper or an actor?
Crash.
Director: David Cronenberg.
Stars: James Spader, Holly Hunter, Rosanna Arquette, Elias Koteas.
Synopsis: Automobile accidents can be erotic according to this film. This film just gave me whiplash.
Cry-Baby.
Director: John Waters.
Stars: Johnny Depp, Amy Locane, Polly Bergen, Ricki Lake, Iggy Pop.
Synopsis: One of the more accessible John Waters films, though not among his best. Almost a spoof of Grease. A good early showcase of Johnny Depp's talent.
Practical Magic.
Director: Griffin Dunne.
Stars: Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Dianne Wiest, Aidan Quinn, Stockard Channing.
Synopsis: Clumsy mix of witchcraft, romance and comedy doesn't work despite the fine cast.
The Pallbearer.
Director: Matt Reeves.
Stars: David Schwimmer, Gwyneth Paltrow, Michael Rapaport, Carol Kane, Barbara Hershey.
Synopsis: Gen-X ripoff of The Graduate.
