Review of The Painted Veil (2006) by Alexander C — 07 Dec 2008
Suffers slightly from a lack of truly exciting scenes. However, the chemistry between Norton and Watts prevents this movie from being boring, and the realistic portrayal of love set against the background of beautiful mainland China elevates what would have been simply a mediocre movie.
And yet, upon second viewing, I find this to be a far more dense and subtle masterpiece than I first thought. Bravo for the painted veil, a truly magnificent movie.
