Review of The Painted Veil (2006) by Eli L — 24 Apr 2009
The movie works as a love story due to the tense awkward chemistry between Edward Norton and Naomi Watts, and the beautiful scenery. The love-hate relationship plays out in parallel with the cholera epidemic ravaging the rural community.
..in the end, no big emotional 'i'm so sorry. I love you' scene is played out by the lead characters. They accept their fate and their eventual love for each other as silently as how incurable diseases strip one of life.
Good movie.
