Review of The Painted Veil (2006) by Josh G — 28 May 2009
A "period romance" only in the strictest sense, Curran brings flawed characters and their respective growth both personally and relationally to the forefront. Gorgeously shot film, set in a cholera-struck Chinese village in the 1920's.
Features some of the best acting I've seen in years from both Watts and Norton - the silence and expression fill up the screen in ways most dramas only dream of. Beautiful cinematography and soundtrack.
