Review of The Painted Veil (2006) by Marcus F — 14 Mar 2010
Surprised I did not hear more about this movie, as it was good. Not happy, but well done. An untraditional and hard-fought love story with a sad ending. This movie gave an unpleasant glimpse at the horrors of cholera, in a way that Love In The Time Of Cholera did not, despite its being set in the same time period and amidst the same epidemic.
A story of love reborn and redemption. I loved the scene in which she plays on an off-key piano the song that he first saw her during and it flashes back and forth-- bittersweet. I also loved the very last scene.
