Review of The Painted Veil (2006) by Amanda C — 14 Apr 2010
This is a beautifully shot film. Unfortunately, that's about the only thing it has going for it. A love story with zero chemistry between the leads, tends to fall short and Watts and Norton have none.
Norton pretty much sleepwalks through the whole film, and Watts appears to be trying, but not very hard. The script, while not terrible, is pretty generic, and utterly predictable. At two hours, the gorgeous cinematography isn't quite enough to keep interest.
