Review of The Painted Veil (2006) by Kate H — 23 Jun 2010
I found myself liking this movie. It was very slow and there wasn't really much of a climax. I suppose it was one of those uneventful movies that happens to end up being soulful. I really don't quite know what I liked about it. It was sad. Do we all get in our own way of being happy much like Kitty did, at first? It really makes me sad to think so.
Despite it being a slow movie, the acting was amazing. Edward Norton does such an amazing job with these kind of slow, soulful type of movies. The man knows how to portray sorrow, passion and everything in between. Can't say I've seen much of Naomi Watts' work but now I might have to, she was superb.
Enjoyed every bit of the movie. It was an emotional roller coaster! I found it entertaining and an interesting glimpse into humanity.
