Very restrained film, almost BBC drama style - not surprising, I suppose, seeing as it's based on a Somerset Maugham story. Beautiful, breathtaking location in China, and good acting all round - even from Norton, who managed to look a lot less cocky than usual! Naomi Watts is excellent.
