Review of The Painted Veil (2006) by Marina N — 04 Jul 2012
I watched this movie without any expectations and it somehow became one of my favorite love stories. There's hardly any flaw with this movie. Norton is terrific and perfectly shows the different sides of his character. Watts fits her character quite well. The stunning scenery and the original score by Alexandre Desplat create the perfect setting for this timeless love story. With its duration of 2 hours it never seems too long. Stories centered around deceit and forgiving always fascinate me, especially when they are so well-told. Beware of the trailer. In my opinion, it tells way too much.
