Review of The Pagemaster (1994) by Nathan N — 28 Sep 2009
I'm suprised Bluth didn't have a hand in this one. 1994 was an odd time. Culkin was starting to age enough that people didn't care about him and studios that weren't Disney were still trying to make cartoons.
It makes perfect sense that these too awkward ponies would intersect in such a perfect way. The Pagemaster is an odd, well-meaning, short and fairly entertaining family movie. My purest and best memory related to Pagemaster is of my grandfather.
I picked up a used Green Lantern comic book from a book store in Fort Worth, Texas. On the back was an advertisment for the pagemaster game, an illustration of Culkin's character climbing along the ceiling as he attempts to dodge falling eyeballs.
Quote my grandfather: "I wish people could just keep their body part to themselves".
