Review of The Page Turner (2006) by Movie K — 21 Sep 2009
A different kind of thriller which is slow and the revenge is done in a different way. Deborah Francois is really beautiful, and looking effectively scary in her role. When she was a young girl, she went for a very importnt piano audition that enable her to pursue her dream.
But while performing halfway, one of the judge Catherine Frot was signing an autograph and the girl stopped. She was told to continue but it had already affected her mood and tempo. Her chance is gone and never touch piano again.
Forward to many years later, she is grown up. She intern at a law firm and later volunteer to help out at the boss's house while he is away. His wife is Catherine. She is practising hard for an upcoming concert with 2 others.
But she had an accident once and kind of have a stage fright. On one of her practise, Deborah came to see her and help turn the music score page. Catherine want her to be her page turner and she agreed.
She also told their son to practise a score which is fast tempo and he was not allow to because it will injured his hand. She convince him to do so to surprise his parents. At the first concert she gave her confidence.
Catherine starting to get more dependent on the young girl. One of the trio is a guy and he tried to hook up to Deborah and she calmly use the cello bottom stand to pierce into his foot. On the important concert day, she goes MIA when its about to start and Catherine blows it.
At the farewell dinner, Deborah asks for her autograph as a gift and she wrote something like "I want you back". The next early morning Deborah slot the autograph into her husband's mail and left.
The husband came back and shock to see the message. I do not know what the hell was going on (watch it on TV) but later got to know quite a few important scenes were not shown because of the seductions and sexy scenes between the 2 women.
Deborah make use of Catherine loneliness and make her dependent and trust her which got her back and excited. Really want to watch the full version to get the real essence and message of the movie.
