Review of The Pact (2012) by Sandra P — 28 May 2012
McCarthy isn't trying to be original here, but what he offers is very well crafted. This film might appear as a cliche, don't let that fool you. it is scary, slow paced, credible, intelligent and a good nod to the best horror films of the last 50 years.
it has obvious homage moments to salems lot, the shining, halloween, psycho, shutter, the innocents, the ring. let the geeks out there spot them, I did. Glick and Barlow were names that appeared in another famous horror story that I just listed to start me thinking that there was more to this film than just the story.
the story was just right though, it didn't insult the intelligence nor did it lack it.
