Review of The Pact (2010) by Jordon J — 04 Jan 2014
For the most part I didn't have a clue what was going on, the story was loosely connected, that is until the last act, where the main character Annie attempts to make contact with the other side, and with terrifyingly intense results she uncovers the horrific answer which completely answers everything in the whole story, it all makes sense and once it's all clear The Pact throws a frightening twist which takes you by surprise.
Caity Lotz is a superb lead, in fact she's one of the finest to ever grace a horror flick, it's as if she just forgets the cameras are rolling, she is so seamless and a worthy lead to follow, not to mention she's absolutely gorgeous.
I really liked the camerawork, it's very James Wan in style, keeping close to the characters making you sure you can see and feel their horrified expressions, and the way it slowly tracks through the grounds of the house.
Whilst there aren't many haunting images, The Pact benefits from thudding jump shocks that made me place my hands over my mouth in fear. I'm so glad I bought this movie, totally worth every penny and it's a real gripper.
