Review of The Pacifier (2005) by Movie K — 21 Nov 2009
Vin Diesel is not bad in this family comedy. He leads a mission to save a kidnapped scientist but upon returning to the helicopter, he got shot and the scientist is dead. He survive and assign to a new mission by his CO Chris Potter - to protect the scientist's family.
When the wife Faith Ford have to leave the house with Chris to get something from her dead husband's safe, Vin runs the house. The eldest is Brittany Snow, second is Max Thieriot, third is Morgan York (so adorable) and 2 younger little boys.
Faith have to stay away longer because they couldn't get the correct password for the safe. Vin set up defense system around the house and make the kids wear a bracelet with SOS button. He uses military ways to make the children have discipline.
In the beginning both sides have issues until one day 2 "ninjas" attack into the house and Vin fought them off. That's when the childrens feel his importance. He slowly got to know to change diapers, do the panda dance for the boy to sleep, teach Brittany driving, take over as the musical director for Max, teach Morgan and her girl guide pals self defense against bullies.
He grew more attached to them. Even the principal Lauren Graham realise that. And one day when the duck's feet got caught in a shaft, Vin found out it is a secret lab underneath. And the other sid the wife finally got the password and obtain a key in the safebox.
When they all return, Chris reveal himself as the baddie and the 2 north korean neighbours are in together. The children managed to escape from the korean guy and got out to get help. Vin uses the dance steps to reach the safebox and then knocks out the korean lady and Chris.
Back up there, although the cops arrive but the korean guy points a machine gun at them and the principal saves the day. Lastly, the musical is a success. The ending part seems quite wrong but otherwise this movie is enjoyable enough.
