Review of The Oxford Murders (2008) by David S — 26 Nov 2010
Generally I'm not too fond of murder mysteries, but this one caught my attention. Elijah Wood plays a student coming to Oxford in the hopes of being tutored by his hero, professor Seldom. Soon he gets entangled in a multiple murder plot, and he and the professor try to solve the puzzle together.
I liked the injection of philosophy and mathematics into this film. It's something that most people will be adverse to, but not me! Prepare to be slapped around the ears by Wittgenstein and the secret cult of the Pythagoreans. Of course, the plot unfolds beautifully at the end of the film in an unexpected manner. I can see why people would think this film is dull, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. Four stars!
