Review of The Overnight (2015) by Brandon W — 12 Dec 2015
I do like that Patrick Brice does a completely different genre when his first film is a horror, especially a genre that nowadays, Hollywood doesn't make much of. With his second movie, The Overnight is a great film that I'm starting to have a bit of respect for him.
The cast is really good, and I like seeing Adam Scott as a completely different character than the usual jerk characters that he plays. It has a lot of funny moments, and a lot of crazy ones too, even those that I really did not expect, but am also glad that the film went over its boundaries.
The writing is really good and gives off some interesting conversations, even if it may seem like something coming from a SNL sitcom. I had no idea about where it's going, and I sort of knew about it, but wasn't quite sure how far it would go though.
I didn't enjoy this as much as Creep and probably would not watch The Overnight again, but for what it is, I really like it fine and was glad that i've watched it, even when there were some shocking moments.
