Review of The Overnight (2015) by Tim M — 23 Jan 2016
The Overnight tries to capitalize on the television momentum its two stars Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black) and Adam Scott (Parks & Rec) have gained over the past few years. The problem is neither one is sharp at their craft, with Schilling being best known for taking off her top whenever asked and being every man's dream lesbian. The fact remains if she doesn't have an impeccable script with a solid supporting cast she's in way over her head. Scott is best at giving us confused facial expressions and there a couple funny faces that generated a few laughs which is par for the course with him.
Most of the hype to this movie was the full frontal nudity and the huge prosthetic penis of Jason Schwartzman. This film is creepy and not funny for long stretches. The hot tub scene that followed a puking scene should have been reversed. The writer/Director of this trash was Patrick Brice who has writte two films with the first being "Creep". It's a shame he used that title for his first joint because this should have been called Creep.
The worst part about this movie is it pretends to be super sexual when in reality it's about nudity and not much else. What a piece of garbage.
