"The Outsiders" is an interesting example of a film. I don't hate it but I did have plenty of problems with the film itself. Maybe it was the book that spoiled me into being so judgmental of the film itself.

The version I watched was the re-edited version "The Complete Novel" which was frigteningly close to the book in every way imaginable-almost down to the dialouge. But in being so close,it seems they rush events, leaving little time for any emotional response to them.

The actors do seem to,at times, be a little too melodramtic. But even so-this movie does have a few gems to pick. One includes Matt Dillon's Portrayal of Dallas which was just perfect for the character.

The visuals are also just wonderful and the actors look pretty much what you would imagine them to be if you read the novel (except I kinda think Emilio Estevez's brother, charlie sheen, would've fit more for two bit-especially since he was 18 at the time) As a movie It felt a tad weak-but I still do believe it is at least worth the watch.
