Review of The Outsiders (1983) by Jonathan P — 02 Mar 2011
Looks can be deceiving. With the cast and the book I thought The Outsiders would be a great movie...I was wrong. The Outsiders is not a bad movie just not what I had expected. The acting was not as strong as it could have been and even though it stayed true to the book, it may have stayed too true with some of the dialog and acting not meshing.
One of the things that really killed The Outsiders though was the over usage of sentimentality. Sometimes a look or a long sigh can be more effective on an audience than sobbing kids.
