Review of The Outsiders (1983) by Michael H — 07 Jan 2012
Im sorry. But The Outsiders Is one of the worst books I have ever read. Im sorry everyone, but it never deserved to be made into a film. The main reason I hate the outsiders is because of the stupid names, the dumb characters, the scenes taking place in the book. IM SORRY S.E HINTON! But I didn't like it. But A Famous Somebody Should Have Stayed Away From this film. But no, Instead, Mr. Coppola. Famous for My Favorite Movie The Godfarther, The Godfarther II and Apocolypse Now has made a terrible descision. The Outsiders never would have worked as a film. With only one likeable character Johnny (Ralph Macchio.) This movie has no point of living. The Film starts at the end of the film as Ponyboy Writes a Essay on the stupid things that have happened throughout the film. The opening credits and Steveie Wonder's music fits well. But then the plot comes back. The film consists of fighting, more fighting.... killings, more killings and... soap opera related substances. I can say this, Its accurate to the book. But, all that happens is this. Ponyboy: We Killed Someone! Johnny: Your Right! The Others From that gang will try to kill us! Ponyboy: LETS RUN! 20 minutes later... Ponyboy: LETS RUN! The house is on fire! Uh, Johnny? OH CRAP! It felt long. It felt overused, It Felt Ridiculously Stupid. One Scene is where Dallas tries to kill himself by ripping off a comic book. He Points a gun at the cashier and then runs away and then the cashier tries to shoot him with his .30... Wait? The Cashier has a gun? ARE YOU @#%@ING SERIOUS!? NO MAN THAT STUPID WOULD BE ABLE TO PULL A DAMN GUN ON A GUY WHO JUST TRIED TO KILL YOU!! Why Does He Own a Gun Anyway? I know its legal to have a liscense. But didn't the guy see what he was trying to do to himself? He should have felt sorry for him. Not pissed that he just ripped a comic and pointed a gun at him. GOOD GOD!
Im sorry. it doesn't work. The outsiders has mediocre acting, crappy writing and good music. I didn't really care at the beginning of the film anyways.
38/100 D+.
