Review of The Outsiders (1983) by Briana T — 22 Jan 2015
Overrated cliché-fest. Typically people enjoy it for one of 2 reasons: either (a) they saw it or read the book as a kid in middle school or (b) they like seeing the cast (Its young version of Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, etc.
). Neither is a legitimate basis for calling this a quality movie. Hell, the book really isn't even all that great. Character development is essentially nonexistent. It would still stand as a good tale of urban struggle if not for the saturation of corny dialogue.
This story simply isn't as good as people make it out to be. It tries to be thought-provoking but in the end settles for a clichéd tragic ending. Don't waste your time or expectations.
