A genuinely good movie. Don't know what the critics are smoking. Based on a true story...
For the complaints about Jared Leto.. is there a specific way he is supposed to act? Are the critics experts on the personality of the historical character? I personally found his acting to be convincing... and appropriate to the character.
I recommend the movie. Screw the critics. I'm pretty picky when it comes to movies, and I very much enjoyed this. I've read quite a lot about Japan and the yakuza, and this seems pretty accurate and realistic.
