Review of The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976) by Patrick M — 02 Jan 2009
The best thing about me is the one-liners delivered by Clin Eastwood. They're wonderful. Other than that, I found this movie somewhat lacking. The plot of a former Confederate on the run at the end of the Civil War is intereting enough and it's not supposed to be realistic.
And here, I think, you get an early vision of Eastwood's talent as a director. It's done far better than Eastwood's first directed western: High Plains Drifter. That having ben said, it is still a pretty boring movie, but worth seeing for a few gunfights and excellent one-liners.
