Review of The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976) by Dustin G — 20 Jan 2009
Generally regarded to be one of Eastwood's best westerns, and with good reason. An original story and film, which is hard to achieve in a genre as popular and well worn as the Western. Eastwood does a great job behind and in front of the camera. Due to the length of the film it feels a little more restrained and slower moving than some of his other Westerns, but that's not to say there isn't a whole lot of action and excitement still going on.
I wouldn't rate it up there with Unforgiven, but it's still one of Eastwood's best Westerns and a damn fine film in its own right.
