Review of The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976) by Zack M — 06 Aug 2011

This is perhaps the first of the "revisionist westerns" and is able to remain entertaining without a very well flushed out story. If Josey had been an outlaw from the very beginning and they had reworked the farming scenes then this would have been much more enjoyable for me from a screenwriting perspective.

As a result I would have enjoyed the film as a whole much more. As it stands, this is an absolutely gorgeous western with really fun characters, solid acting, some great atmosphere. I may not have loved it, but I would still highly recommend it to others for the polished feel, and the new trend it started in westerns.
