Review of The Others (2001) by Evan C — 03 Aug 2010

I remember seeing many commercials for this movie back when it first came out, but I have not seen or heard of it in a while. I'm pretty sure I remember this movie having a lot of hype and many were disappointed; I disagree.

The storyline of this movie is not very original, but what makes this movie great is the way the plot is executed. This movie isn't really too much of a thriller or horror movie as the movie summary may tell you, it's more of a mystery, or very light thriller movie.

The film relies heavily on the performances of the actors, led by Nicole Kidman, and they all do a phenomenal job. The acting in my opinion, made the movie, the way they acted was very typical and believable, and it really sucks you into the movie.

However, the movie does have some weak points. Like I said earlier, the plot is unoriginal, and is predictable for the most part. This takes away from the experience this movie has to offer, which is quite disappointing.

But, overall this was an enjoyable movie led by great acting. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch this movie, but if your a fan of mysteries, dramas, or historical thrillers I'd recommend this movie.
