Man, I love a good ghost story. If done well, they give you the creeps, shivers, goose-bumps, chills and other descriptive words that basically mean you're scared. You don't really get that with monster movies because they require a leap of faith.

Ghost stories usually are based in some sense of reality that the audience can identify with and THAT is what makes them get under your skin. Something like Nightmare on Elm Street? Fun, but not too scary.

Paranormal Activity?............creeped me out, man. Because everyone can identify with the fear of hearing a sound and not knowing it's source. One of the most well done ghost stories to date, The Others is a great slow burn of a movie.

It takes it's time in setting everything up so once the spooky s**t starts goin down.........you're hooked. Nicole Kidman is (hot) a great actress who is never afraid to tackle all kinds of diverse roles (I fell in love with her when I saw Moulin Rouge) and in this movie, she once again delivers.

The movie is drenched in good, old school creepiness. You get lots of fog, a big spooky house, creaks and groans and other assorted noises. Even though it's set during WWII, you can still identify with her horrified reactions to the strange occurences.

The movie builds and builds till the final moment where you sit up in your seat, eyes wide and your mouth open. Because the movie just tricked you. One of the best surprise endings in movie history, it immediatly made me want to watch the whole thing over again.

And watching it again after many years has not made it any less frightening. If you're home alone on a dark, stormy night with nothing to do (you frickin nerd.....I kid), pop this in and settle down in your Snuggie and prepare to get the willies.

..........as well as alot of static electricity......Snuggies could power a city's electrical grid with all the damn static electricity they have...................
