Review of The Others (2001) by Forrest E — 10 Jul 2012
Amenabar's films always look promising from the outside but thoroughly underwhelm upon viewing. The Others was creepy and heavily atmospheric, but it never created enough gut-wrenching suspense to justify its lack of legitimate scares.
I strongly prefer atmosphere to violence, but the atmosphere in this film wasn't creepy enough. The twist at the end was surprisingly refreshing, though.
