Review of The Others (2001) by Tim W — 25 Jan 2014
A creepy ghost flick with good performances and several twists throughout leading to a shocking conclusion. Creepy and it isn't until the film is over that you put all the pieces together the more you think on it.
The film approaches the genre with the less is more mentality, a welcome change of pace from most modern horror films, and is more atmospheric and creepy because of it. The film is supposed to take place right after World War II and makes for a good ghost story setting, leaving the isolated home more cut off from the outside world and modern convinces such as cell phones and computers.
Overall, I liked the film a lot and while it deals with an extremely rare disease it makes it fit in well with the supernatural story that is the center of the story.
