Review of The Other Woman (2014) by Orlando O — 08 Sep 2014
The Other Woman is the typical chick flick comedy film that is filled with cheap laughs, mediocre performances and a thin plot.
It could have had potential with the talent but it falls short. Leslie Mann's character was written to be so annoying, that it makes it hard to sit through. Cameron Diaz is the only one that gave a decent performance, while Kate Upton was just there playing the stereotypical character. Then again, the three actresses do have talents it is just screenwriter Melissa Stack script gave the movie stereotypical characters.
Carly (Cameron Diaz) has been in a relationship with Mark (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). When Mark has to go back to one of his homes for an emergency, Carly tries to surprise him by showing up there. But only to see Kate (Leslie Mann), Marks wife. Kate and Carly try to plot revenge against Mark, but also realize there is another woman named Amber (Kate Upton).
The movie had not much of a plot, only to see Carly, Kate, and Amber trying to plot revenge against Mark. The humor was cheesy and boring unless you enjoy watching Leslie Mann whine throughout the whole movie mainly about everything. The Other Woman felt directionless trying to aim for the cheap laughs and being really boring.
