Review of The Other Woman (2014) by Sofya F — 14 Feb 2015
The concept actually has some potential, but this film chooses not to explore it. instead, it goes for histrionics, over the top characterization, and cliche after cliche. it seems to have a nasty attitude towards all of its characters.
it's a female driven movie, but it treats its female leads in the most condescending way possible. it plays like a "girl power" film made by people who don't understand what feminism is.
these characters are not "empowered women" considering that they don't have personalities outside of their relationships with men. what we get instead of an interesting analysis of marriage or monogamy is a lowest common denominator comedy, complete with a giant comedy dog.
