"If not for Leslie Mann, "The Other Woman" would have been a disaster.".

Movie Review: The Other Woman.

Date Viewed: May 8 2014.

Directed By Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook, Alpha Dog, John Q and My Sister's Keeper).

Written By Melissa Stack.

Starring: Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Kate Upton, Nicki Minaj, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau,.

Taylor Kinney and Don Johnson.

"The Other Woman" could have died in a horrific plane crash because of it's embarrassing humor and two awful supporting performances but what saves it is Leslie Mann, she is hilarious and she makes this ladies' night out just okay. "The Other Woman" marks the acting debut of rapper Nicki Minaj, she plays Cameron Diaz's legal assistant and here's why Minaj should not act in movies, 1. Her line readings are like fingernails on a chalkboard and 2. Her butt is way too big.

Cameron Diaz plays Carly, a lawyer who starts a relationship with Mark (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau of TV's "Game of Thrones" ) who tells her that he has to go out of town for a few days. When Carly decides to go to his house and seduce him by dressing up as a sexy plumber, she is horrified to meet Kate (Leslie Mann), who is Mark's wife. For some strange reason, Carly and Kate form an unlikely friendship and they soon discover that Mark is seeing another woman. She is a 21-year-old bombshell named Amber (Kate Upton, who makes Carmen Electra look like Shirley MacLaine). Soon, the three women decide to take revenge on Mark by putting hair removal cream in his shampoo and putting estrogen on his smoothies.

The three women also learn that Mark has been embezzling from various companies and Carly gets romantically involved with Kate's brother Phil (Taylor Kinney). "The Other Woman" could have done something interesting with these two women (Diaz and Mann) but it gets dragged down by Kate Upton's clueless bimbo. She is neither attractive or funny. Don Johnson has some fine moments as Carly's horny father and Cameron Diaz is pretty as always but couldn't you find a much more funnier script than this. Oh yeah, there's also a Great Dane in this movie (no he's not Marmaduke) and the screenplay by Melissa Stack has to make the dog leave a huge stack of poop on a hardwood floor and smack Diaz in the face with his balls.

Like I said, Leslie Mann is the best part of this movie, she saves this movie from going off a cliff. When I first heard that Nick Cassavetes was going to direct "The Other Woman", I thought to myself, "That Can't Be!". He's usually known for directing tough dramas like "She's So Lovely", "John Q" and "Alpha Dog", Okay! Okay! Okay! he also directed "The Notebook". Another problem with "The Other Woman" is with it's selection of music, it plays the theme from "Mission: Impossible" when Kate tries to sneak back into her house while her husband is driving away to his mistress.

Are you kidding me! "The Other Woman" is a revenge fantasy for women that tries to be "The First Wives Club" crossed with "Bridesmaids" but it just doesn't work.
