A farm kid from Idaho leaves behind the girl of his dreams to take a life-altering journey to the primative island kingdom of Tonga. The young man's journey soon becomes a fight for survival as he encounters first, a violent hurricane, then is washed overboard during a raging storm at sea. Through letters accross the world and conversations "across the sky", he shares his amazing adventures with his girlfriend back home. When his polynesian odyssey comes to an end, both the boy and girl have been changed forever.
