Review of The Other Guys (2010) by Dylan W — 22 Sep 2012
"The Other Guys" adds a very comedic and fresh touch to the overdone and very typical buddy coo formula. The plot plays out as expected: When New York's two hero cops die on the job, the city looks for it's next new heroes, which happens to come in the form of an overly angry cop and a precinct accountant.
The acting is great from everyone, with Mark Wahlberg giving a surprisingly hilarious performance, which is matched by Will Ferrell's obliviously stupid accountant. The film has more action than any of Ferrell's previous films, and it is handled really well and in a comedic way.
The jokes fly hard and fast at they hit perfectly. A particulary hilarious scene involves Ferrell's character obliviously describing his time in college as a pimp. The film is a funny one, doing everything "Cop Out" managed to not do, and it is a great time.
