Review of The Other Guys (2010) by Brandon L — 26 Jan 2013
Might as well jump right in. This movie is easily the worst movie I have ever seen in theaters. I like Will Ferrell. I loved Anchorman and Talladega Nights, and Mark Wahlberg has been great in other comedies such as Ted. But the premise is ridiculous, the story is confusing and never really seems significant or something the audience should particularly care about, and the humor is completely overdone, trying to make humor out of unfunny situations and failing. Most of the time I try to take movies for what they are, but in this case it feels as though the writers were trying to make an R movie and decided at the last second to make it PG-13, and removed all the actually funny parts in order to do so. The action sequences aren't entirely horrible, but certainly not enough to pretend that this is actually an action movie with a few funny bits. No, it's just an unfunny trainwreck. Go paint your lawn, it'll take just as long and be much more entertaining and productive.
1 star: Abysmal, hated it.
